* PERFORMANCE & DESIGN custom high performance built
911 or 930 Porsche engines used in the Spyder 6 are balanced, high compression,
ported, and either Weber or PMO carbureted, MFI, EFI, or EFI turbocharged,
with horsepower available from 215 to 400 (235 hp 2.3 shown). For the
increased powertrain options, the tube frame chassis' are designed to
mount the higher performance engines, gearboxes, suspension, and larger
brakes required. Exhaust system includes either stainless SSI, B&B, or P&D
headers, and stainless P&D Sport muffler. |
|
|
|
|
Chassis' are constructed using one-of-two rectangular & round tube frame
design options, which allows for a choice of either 911 or
930 engines, 4 or 5 speed gearboxes, and suspension components. |
|
|
|
|
During construction of the
tube frame the standard wheelbase of 96" and/or the driver's interior area
length can be increased to a chosen measurement where the roll bar,
aluminum center bulkhead, door register latch panel, and engine mount are
located (shown by arrows), as the
fiberglass body components are hand fabricated to whatever wheelbase,
interior area length, and what brake, wheel and tire size are chosen. |
|
Basic fiberglass body begins with as a standard 356
Speedster that is redesigned (except hood, doors, and windshield) and hand
fabricated into a Spyder 6, which includes widening, lengthening, and
channeling. |
|
The rear portion of fiberglass body lifts (shock
assisted) at the 2"x .120 wall roll bar to allow easy access to the
engine, gearbox, oil tank & filter, suspension, brakes & their side intake
cooling ducts, electronics, and exhaust system. |
|
|
|
|
Under the 930 intercooler grille, the enclosed .050
aluminum engine compartment has clearance for any tall induction system or
large turbo intercooler (shown are 6" velocity stacks under 3.5" K&N air
cleaners). |
|
Components located under the 356 style hood include: 911 adapted deck lid stay/shocks,
911 hood light, option of either a 14 gal. fuel tank or a 12.5 gal. fuel cell
(location of the optional fuel filler access is shown above on the flamed Spyder
6 hood), battery, fuse block, brake fluid reservoir . |
|
Front Components Include: Lower widened (to chosen wheel & tire width) 356 body style with nose grille & ducting for aux. oil cooler, front brake cooling intakes & ducts, 911 steel headlight buckets, 911 H-4 halogen headlight assemblies with painted rim covers, 356-A turn signal assemblies, Talbot or Hella sport mirrors, and recessed Spyder 6 badge. Rear Components Include: Lower widened (to chosen wheel & tire
width) 356 body style, 930 intercooler grille, side intakes for rear brake
cooling, 'IROC tail' deck lid, 356 tail light assemblies, recessed license
plate panel, illuminated license plate frame, P&D Sport muffler (right
& left outlet), and Spyder
6 script (Spyder name/Carrera 6 number). |
|
Interior Components Include: 911-S gauges (VDO boost gauge
added for turbo engine), cylinder head temp gauge, type and color choice
of steering wheel, shifter & lock, seats, trim, carpet, sound system, lap
belts & harness', interior & map lights, and fire extinguisher. With the
911 or 930 engine mounted mid-ships, the 356 style engine compartment was
designed for storage
area located under a solenoid activated "IROC tail" deck lid, which includes
adapted 911 deck lid stay/shocks & interior light. |
